We ran a 69 suicide Lincoln in the derby a couple years ago, SBC, Mopar 8.75 rear end, 4.30 gears with a spool. Front end got hammered, we ended up making a ball joint out of a big grade 8 bolt, and I had to put 1" angle iron top and bottom of the tie rods and welded it solid.

I used to be small time oval racer as well. I couldn't afford the longacre toe setting tools so I made my own tools to do the job. I cut 4 peices of 3/16th stainless steel plate big enough for the front tires to sit on. 2 Peices under each front tire. Them between both plates smeared gear oil between them so that the plates slide one one another. Jack up the front end and paint lines onthe tires with spray paint then used an old test light and scribed lines in the paint. Then sit the front tires on the plates. The oil between the plates helps the front tires and suspension relax.
