Mine has recently (back in March) become my daily commute vehicle.
Round trip of 44-47 miles depending on which way I go. One full tank per week. Works out to around $360 per month in gas, at around 10-11 MPGs. Most of the trip is under 40 miles an hour, and stop-and-go, only about 5 miles of it is highway speed.
No matter how I cut it, even if I got a vehicle that got 22 mpgs (NOT HIGHWAY, but stop-and-go around-town), I would only save $180 or so a month. So I'd still be spending $180/month on gas, plus the payment for a new vehicle, which is bound to be more than $200/month.
Meanwhile, I get to drive a V10

Daily driver here, too (except for when I can ride the Shadow). For the past year and a half my commute was about a 4.5 mile round trip. But, we just moved the office last month. So now, it's less than two miles round trip.
What sucks is that my fuel economy is way down. I doubt I'm getting 6 mpg going back and forth to work. I was thinking that something was wrong with the truck until I realized that the poor thing never gets a chance to warm up now, unless it's idling in the driveway in the morning. And that's not helping things, either. But, it's still getting 14-15 on the highway, so I don't think anything's wrong with it. I guess I'll just have to suffer with buying two gallons of gas a week for my commute.
