89 f350 start problem

a friend of mine has a 89 f350 with a 460 and it wont start when cranking it with the key.but if the key is on pull it 3 feet and its running what would cause this?

A few possibilities.
Bad/low battery.
Loose/dirty battery wire terminals.
Loose battery to engine ground wire.
Burnt/corroded/bad battery wires.
Bad starter motor.

turns over fine just wont start.unless you pull or push it.

Another possibility is a bad ignition switch (bolted to steering column under the dash).
