I've been doing some research into the gearing.....How would you feel about some 3.73's? Thats a mootpoint between 4.10 and 3.55's

If you like the truck I would keep it, if you do not like the truck, sell it.

If you like the truck and are sick of how gutless it is, and have a donor 302 truck, do it. For your uses (to me sound pretty light duty) a 302 will be head and shoulders funner to drive.

The amount that you have to put into it can be done for pretty cheap too, if you have a good pick a part nearby.

The good news is, if you sell your truck, there are many replacements, some can be found in good condition for cheap, some in decent condition for dirt cheap, so you can always start over without spending a whole lot more then you sell your truck for.

There are also alot for sale that are junk, so beware.
You're right...I have a line on a 1991 302...All the parts I need for the swap (minus the flywheel) for $150....

When you start bringing in money, having the 2nd truck around will be worth more than having the extra $1500
Good thinking...I just need to get back to work.....But the local employment rate has BOMBED......

I had a carbed 351w.......And due to some engine issues, a TON of blowby, and 2.73 gears.....I hated it...and the mpg...13mpg highway...

My dad has a matching truck to mine, except its a 302/3.55LS...ANd gets the exact same fuel mileage as I do.....

Plus, I have a lead on a donor truck, 302, 1991 model.....EVERYTHING to do a swap with...$150...

So idk....Needs a LOT of thought....
I have been driving my late Fathers 96 F-250 4X4 460 v8 extended cab since he passed away 3/2009. He rarely drove the truck because of the fuel mileage he claimed was horrible. When I took ownership , the truck had 62k and now it has 77k. I first began driving it around town and noticed an increase in mpg over what he had previously realized around town and since I started adding ZMAX the mpg has far exceeded my expectations. I have gotten substantial increases on all three vehicles I have added ZMAX too. 2 Fords 1 Toyota.
The fuel mileage gains on the F250 aren't crazy high like some people claim, but they are real -no doubt about it. I drove home from Denver today , on I -70 west towards Grand Junction over 2 mountain passes and while on Vail pass , I switched tanks from the rear too the front , drove the next 148.4 miles using half of the front tank and pulling into town stopped for fuel. Filled the front tank too the brim , 9.895 gallons 85 octane . Divided 148.4 by the number of gallons consumed and very accurately determined 14.9974 avg mpg. No bull. My fuel mileage has done nothing but increase over nearly the entire time I have driven the truck. I have even got 12mpg pulling a trailer with a jeep Cherokee from Grand Junction to Denver two weeks in a row. My best mpg has been on the highway of course, and I will put this truck up against any fuel mileage test you can throw at me. Number of miles driven by number of gallons too re-fuel tank. Simple. There may be nay sayers , but I have no reason too b. s anyone. I will check too see what axle ratio I am running and post it soon. I think the ZMAX has added to this increase. It's the only thing I have done different . A few oil changes, same old spark plugs , and no tuner experiments. Just 2 ZMAX treatments in 15k .

I would definately keep it. I am 22 and have had over 10 project cars. Some of them were crap when I bought them, and some I'm still kicking myself for selling them. If you do sell it, make 100% sure you're ready.

P.S. If you want to come out west, just do what a guy I know does. Just stick out your thumb and hitch your way to the good life. It's amazing how many people will actually stop and give that guy a ride.
