How to prevent tailgate theft?

After having my tailgate stolen twice I am looking for ideas on how to secure it. I had put some oversize washers on the cable connectors but they simply cut the cables. Has somebody devised a way to secure the gate at the hinge?

Place a radiator hose clamp on the tailgate where the notch is for the easy removal. Tighten the clamp and it is a more permanent fix. It will take to much effort for the thieves to take. The gate will work as it should.
