Exclamation Unknown issue....poss exhaust issue.

2008 F-250
6.4 Diesel
13, 500 total miles

Last week while in Colorado "10,000 ft" (not pulling trailer) I noticed what I thought was a very short "momentary" down shift, but not sure exactly what it was. Then everything seemed fine and normal again with the exception of the "green" maintenance wrench light and engine emission light came on and stayed on.

I pulled over, looked up the symbols in the owners book. Shut off the engine a couple times, but the trouble light continued.

About 600 mile back home and I've not seen the automatic "Cleaning Exhaust" notice come on since...hint... hint!

My Ford dealer said they can not get my truck in for 5-6 weeks and that all it may need is for the exhaust to me "manually cleaned"?? When I asked them how to do this he said they only had two mechanics and they did not have time to get me an answer.... YES, I'M LOOKING FOR NEW FORD DEALER!

Any tips, advice, recommendations or answers would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

the wrench light could mean many things, anything from an EGR error that tripped it to as you said a DPF issue..

Have to get the codes read/diagnostics to look for sure.

The cleaning of the exhaust should still occur. You may have to go thru the system messages to see it.

If the truck does not do the cleaning when needed you will most likely go into limp mode and then a shut down.
