oil pan question 289 to 302???

I have a 67 F100 that had a 289 from a falcon (I believe) I need to swap the oil pan from a truck 302 due to the oil drain location. I have read there are differences between the 2 engines but I am confused. What will I have to change when I change the oil pan? Will the dipstick work? I know I need a rear sump pick up screen. Is there anything else? also I found a 302 motor parting out from a 93 F150. Will that pan and pick up tube work?

Thanks for the help guys, I know this is where to find the answers!

You'll have to match the oil pump pickup arm and screen to the new rear sump configuration. Will the 289's dipstick work? Yes - the dipstick hole should be in the timing cover. It'll need to be shortened and rescribed. Do that after refilling the crankcase to its spec'd capacity.

If I went to a salvage yard for the parts to convert my 1966(?) 289 engine front sump oil pan to a 302 rear sump oil pan, what year models will work as far as getting an oil pan and pick up screen?

A late model rear sump 302 oil pan will swap.

Any Windsor rear sump pan will swap to the 289. Beware however than some 302s came with a dipstick tube in the oil pan.

I would NEVER use a junkyard oil pump or pickup. A new one is good insurance towards your engine's longevity. Why install one that may already be worn out? Plus, some folks (like me) tack weld the pickup tube to the oil pump body so it maintains its relative depth and position to the pan. I've heard of some peeps' pick up tube falling out and wiping out their engine. Air is not a good lubricant.
