6.0 Low Oil Pressure/Just Rebuilt

'03 f350, Last year it blew a connecting rod out the side.(110,000mi) Bought a flood recovered 6.0 from a freind of a freind. Completely dismantled it. Had it honed, crank polished, all new bearings, head studs, egr deleted, black onyx head gaskets. When I fired it up, it had very low engine oil pressure and also a leak in the hpop system. Had enough fun so I dropped it at the dealer to fix. 1 month and $4000 later still not fixed. Brought it home and it sat for a year, then last week I tried to tackle it again. Took the motor back out , brought crank to machine shop to double check the measurements. They polished again and ordered new bearings again. Installed crank, new gyro pump and cover. Put in new stack tubes for hpop issue. I solved the high pressure oil issue, but I still have very low engine oil pressure. 2-4psi at idle and 15psi at 1500rpm. Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm missing here?????

Oil Pressure gauge, I just looked in the tech guide, it says possibly the oil pressure regulator, any idea where that is ?

Sorry BLADE35, forgot to answer your question. A Fram oil filter has been put into the 6.0. Is using a Motocraft something I should do versus the aftermarket brands ?

some AM filters are to short and they use a diffrent cap to make up for the Height diffrence

IIRC Fram ok

stay with motocraft and no worries and that goes for ALL Filters fuel oil air ect....

theres a oil drain back in the bottom of the oil filter housing that drains when filter is pulled get to short of filter in and it constantly is draining make shure nothing wrong with the drainback

Pull and check IPR if it got junk in it and is stuck open will not allow to build aANY pressure
look at the screen if pushed from being plugged or any hole in it time for a new on

The Fram is fine. If you compare the Fram and Motorcraft I think you'll find that they're dimensionally identical.

Well, I tried the oil pressure regulator today with no luck. I was really hoping that was the culprit. Blade35, does the IPR affect the engine oil pressure? or the High Pressure Oil System?

The IPR (Injector Pressure Regulator) regulates the HPO system. Where are you taking your low pressure reading from?

sometimes a bad IPR will cause loss base oil pressure

Pull and check IPR if it got junk in it and is stuck open will not allow to build aANY pressure
look at the screen if pushed from being plugged or any hole in it time for a new on <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

With all the work that went into this truck it wouldnt surprise me if the screen and such was jacked up

OK I will try the IPR tomorow(tue.) will post the results. One more thing I did find is that I pulled the oil filter, checked both check valves. They were good. Then cranked the motor to fill the filter cup just to double check the valves opening and closing which was good. BUT, I noticed that the oil was airated. Would I be correct to assume that's an issue that would affect oil pressure

Aerated oil sounds like the pump is sucking air. Might be time to check the pickup tube o-rings.
