Sure thing. Here is the thread.

Post #12 has some datalogs. I found it very interesting how changing the pulse width broadened the torque curve without a major hp penalty. A lot of the info is way over my head though....
Thanks Greg, Very interesting, good read.

Thanks Al I tried to find a tread on with years that the Powdered and which had forged rod tread but I got lost. I have a e99 so I think I have the forged rods. Correct me if I am wrong.

I run a set of Swamps 175/146 single shots. I combined these with a previously installed Adrenaline HPOP and a 38R. I was lucky enough to be close to PHP last spring. So I made an appointment to have Bill spend some time fine tuning my truck on his dyno. We could have tuned it for more HP, but as Bill pointed out "I'm building a Tug Boat not a race car"
80DD is my hottest tune and I'm at 380HP and almost 800TQ. my 65 tow sets me at 351/660, and it peaks right at 2250-2400 RPM which is right where I run when I'm pulling.

Just wondering, 176/146 means what. 176cc and what. Dose that mean ther 30% over or what. I think barney's set up is t----s. Its what most of us would love for towing.

Taken from Swamp's website:
Notes: First 3 digits of model number is maximum flow rate, second 3 digits are nozzle size. Our "30%" nozzles will flow 30% more fuel than the same injector with a stock "146" nozzle; our "200%" nozzle would flow 200% more fuel in the same amount of time, etc... An "S" before the first 3 numbers indicates a Split-Shot injector. A stock single-shot injector would be 98/146, a stock split-shot S/135/146.

I'm running 175/146 single shots as well however mine came from the Beans Bros! Same adrenaline HPOP & gtp38r but with intake work and AFE manifolds, Mahle pistons & 110 springs, it has not dyno'ed yet but it will break the 37/12.50's loose going into 2nd gear at half throttle! Thats on the street tune! The hot tune is just plane a__ scary!...

Bill,

The transission is a given, all of the other stuff is what I am working on. The head studs are required and I like the idea of the valve springs. I actually design performance parts for small gas engines and I know the things that should be done. My goal is a towing monster that I drive to work every day. Has to be dependable but able to hook up to a 20,000 pound trailer and get on down the road. I do some mountain towing from time to time and last time the only concern I had was transmission temperature running in the 215-225 degree range. Since then I have upgraded the tranny cooler to a 6.0 cooler and it helped but I have not been back to the mountains since. The biggest mystery for me are the injectors. I appreciate the help. The turbo you mentioned, is it a Garrett? If not let me know which brand, also any particular injector brand? Thanks.

i run an h2e which is a holset turbo sold with a mounting kit by hypermax. if you want an h2e turbo call carson stauffer (carsonstaufferdiesel.com) and get the turbo and mount kit through him. he has taken the mounting kit design to a whole new level with bellowed uppies and a new style of the oil drain tube so you wont have any leaks. the other turbo i mentioned is the qssb or gqssb made by WOP (wideopenperformance.net) they have really cool mounting kits as well. as far as injectors barney and myself run swamps stage 1's. i built my truck to tow as well its not a drag strip truck. you wont go wrong with either swamps, casserly or WOP sticks. that 6.0 trans cooler you added is awesome and a great upgrade. while youre doing the springs and studs throw in a set of chromoly pushrods as well. after all that you should be good to go. on a side note the t4 style turbos are rebuildable for about 500 bucks. the 38r is a one and done kind of turbo. there will be some guys on here that will tell you the 38r is rebuildable and it is but it cost the same as a whole new 38r to rebuild it. the t4 style turbos are alittle more up fron because you get new uppies, pedestal, air intake tubes, i.c pipe, exhaust dp and some other little things to mount one up but once you have it there is a lot more room to play with different setups......

You guys not in California are lucky you can run all those types of turbo's. We here have to run stock or something that looks stock for smog. Wrenchhead, Barney has a great setup with 380HP and 800FT LBS tork just for towing. He travels everywhere for work and lives with his wife RVen. Let us know what you chuse.

You got it man! Hey, I have had this truck since I ordered it in 99' and I still love it. We have had a few hard knocks but I want to be driving this thing into the great burial ground in the sky. I am a true gear head, wrenchhead or what ever you want to call me; I am on some other forums related to duck hunting boats, back water marine engines, Kawasaki v-twin performance parts, rotary wankel mud motors, etc. I have a you tube channel devoted to mud motors and diesel engines. I also want a tugboat, but mine is usually running at 85 MPH! I don't like seeing my post turbo EGT in the 800-900 degree range and I damn sure don't like my tranny in the 225 degree range. As I said, I have done some things to help but I want my truck to be idling when I tow! I have grabbed a lot of good info from everybody that has replied to this post and will continue to do so, thanks.
