rust and rain
got caught in the rain last night ..found new ways for the water to come in the windshield rubber is split and water comes in ..the floorboards are no longer connected to the side of the cab the tires spray into the dash ..and the dash lites quit ..water running off the dash runs down my leg when I take my foot off the hole in the floor to shift ..have I waited too long to get the new cab ?? has any one else run like this ..wondering about my sanity..and how hard it is going to be to change cab's.....

Haha im posting this from the inside of my 48 cab as its raining cats n dogs outside.. My cab has many small holes I need to fix as it looks like a small pool here inside my cab (ok maybe not that bad =).. I was just thinking I wonder what it would be like to drive this old truck in a rain storm haha

Whew... I was a bit bashful to relay my own tale, but this brought out a grin to me and loosened the tongue. (Only too bashful to speak since I claimed about 3 times that I am almost "done")
I am just almost done (carpet, headliner, seat, belts, almost everything is in). I took it down to the corner and back to get it warmed up (radiator flush and fill)... and it was raining, no it was sleeting (Denver 2 weekends ago) miserably.
Front windshield leaked, rear windshield leaked, fender welting leaks so there is spray all down the doors. The rear end is so light it kept wanting to peel on the soft mud road. My truck was filthy in 2 miles. Wet, cold, new carpet wet, that headliner is made of cardboard... My warm up run set me back. All these things were "fine" when I parked it 8 years ago... these girls don't like to be ignored - they get vindictive.
Butyl rubber (ace/home depot/lowes)... You and I will be doing the same thing this weekend.
Comes in a caulking gun tube - what the glass shops use cause it sticks to the painted frame and sticks to glass both.

I just recently removed my old cowl vent seal for paint striping/priming. It was old and hardened. No way it would seal properly.

Well, when I get my cab painted for my 51 (really close but the body man is worthless when it comes to communication) I will put carpet in it, but before I do I am sealing the living crap out of everything! I am really considering sealing the cowl vent shut. I really believe that there is no 51 or 52 cowl vent that does not leak. Period. Let me know if I am wrong and how to fix it, but I have tried many times with no luck.

thank's guy's..the bondo/fiberglass/ concreat and chicken wire repairs add to the surprises this truck has..it run's fine..rumbles and creack's..the big chunk of floor with the glass fell out on the last speed bump ..with all the other spray I didn't notice the cowl vent leaking...I tink it is rusted shut....
