I read somewhere in this website that you are the man when it comes to the 4r100. My 4r100 from my 01 X just dropped second gear. From what I've read it sounds like that wonderful mechanical diode they used in 01. So, I'm probably looking at a rebuild and I'm looking for tips. Any advice on where to get a rebuild kit or unexpected things inside the 4r100. Thanx in advance for your help!

Anywhere that you can buy trans parts would have a rebuild kit to replace the mechanical diode. I have used Transtar parts. They worked well and their prices were good.

 

It looks like transtar has a master overhaul kit and a Deluxe (super) kit. Do you think the deluxe kit is worth the extra cash?

 

What's the difference between the two?

From the transtar website it looks like the deluxe kit comes with a filter, modulator, band, bushing kit and popular washers. That is on top of everything in the master overhaul kit.

 

A modulator? For a 4R100? What would it do, and where would one mount it?

Quick question. My BD number on my 4r100 tag says BD 0M 04. What does "M" stand for if I'm not mistaken M is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet. Twelve months in a year? Thanx for your help.

 

I never learned how to decode the build tags.
