How do I Change the Fuel Filter on 99 E150
Hi GEllsworth and welcome to FTE
The fuel filter is on the frame under the driver's seat area.
You will need a special fuel filter tool to remove it. Most decent auto parts stores should have them. If you can get the metal one instead of the plastic one you'll have an easier time with it.
First off you need to relieve the pressure in the lines by disconnecting the Inertia Switch which is behind the right front kick panel, near where the passenger would put his feet, and then start the engine and let it run until it runs out of gas. Your owners manual will show you where the inertia switch is. They might call it a fuel shutoff switch or something like that.
There is a safety clip on the lines in front of and behind the filter. Pry those off with a screwdriver and then take the tool you bought and push it into the end of the fuel line to release the "fingers" inside the fuel line. Push the line into the filter while you push the tool into the line. It's easier to do than explain. Cover the fuel line and filter with a rag and pull the line off the filter. Careful that you dont get a gas bath. After all that there is just one hose clamp that holds the filter to the bracket. Put it all back together in reverse order and check for leaks after you're done.
Or you could just take it in and get someone to do it so you dont stink like gas after
I hate replacing fuel filters

Start it and while its running press the fuel shutoff switch on the floor kick panel of the passenger side.
It is an easy job to do yourself. If you have a way to prop up the front wheels it will make it easier, if not, you just have to be more fleixble.
Be sure to wear eye glasses, gas WILL come out and you dont want any in your eyes!
There is an instructional document on this site under tech articles if you need help.
