2003 Escape XLT 2wd

There is a Squeaking noise coming from under the front of the car when turning left at all speeds. Noise is gone when turning right. Both CV Axles were replaced (left one twice, defective part) Both wheel bearings, struts, control arms (which also replaces all bushings and ballj oints) new brake pads and rotors, and tie rods. It's a load-bearing noise, so when the car is up on jacks, the noise is inauduble, so I cannot pinpoint the problem that way.

The link below is the noise it makes. I accelerated to about 10 mph then slowed down to a crawl, so you can hear that the noise is in sync with the speed of the vehicle.

You could put a piece of masking tape on the sidewall of the left front tire, then hang out the window when making a slow left-hand turn to see if the noise happens exactly at the same tape position each time the noise occurs. If the noise occurs at a slightly faster rate, then try taping the right front tire and have someone walk/run alongside to see if it matches then in the left turn.

We had a repetitive grunt occur on a minivan, turned out to be the tire sidewall against the rim edge as a particular part of the tire rotated down on to and off of the ground. In this case, it was aggravated by humid weather.

You could also remove a front wheel and swap it with a rear, if no change, swap the remaining front to the back.

I would also look very carefully to see if something is rubbing behind the left front tire, or in front of the right front tire as you turn left. You never know...

 

I had the same problem on my 2005.I would have bet it was the steering rack but nope... I replaced the lower Control "A" arm. It took about 1.5- 2.0Hrs. And no more squeak. I also had a slight suspension rattle, so I replaced the stabilizer link while I was in there with a better MOOG greasable one.(replaced left and right)

The Control arm has already been replaced, but not the stabilizer links. I did the tape test on the sidewall like Torky2 suggested and the noise is about 80% faster when turning left. I did not have anyone available watch the right tire today, will give it a shot tomorrow.

 

You said you replaced the cv shafts. I know the cv boots are different then OEM so maybe there rubbing when you turn. Thats what it sounds like to me. I just put new cv's on my f150 and when its jacked up in the front and I spin the tire by hand the boots rub and make that noise. The Aftermarket boots are bigger I noticed.

 

Hmm, Would the boots make that loud of a noise? The problem is when the car is on jacks, the noise is inaudible, I do hear that boot noise you mentioned but it's no where near as loud as what I'm hearing from what's on the video clip. I even tried jacking up the control arm with a jack to put some load on it but no luck. I just thought of taping an old cellphone and record it from different spots underneath from side to side, then see which spot is louder.

I have to mention that a month ago when this noise surfaced, I took it to a personal mechanic, pep boys and car-x . I have replaced everything that they told me was the problem, which was in my original post. It does have 100k miles on it, so these things did need to be changed anyway.

How about Sway Bar Bushings?

 

Well after all this time, the intermittent noise became worse. It became a constant whirring noise on a straightaway and worse making lefts. Ended up being the right wheel bearings again after only 8 months of use. this time the bearings and hub we replaced. thank you all for your input.
