Going from captains chairs to 40/20/40 bench, how do I do this swap?

I have a 97 F250 ext cab with captains chairs and the center console. My driver seat is broken. Yesterday I got lucky and scored a really nice condition 40/20/40 bench from a 96 F250 extended cab.

My captains chairs have power lumbar but have manual adjustments otherwise.

The new bench has power lumbar and all power seat adjustments.

Will my truck have the wiring already in place for these new seats? What about holes for the bolts and the studs?

should be a bolt in from captains to 40/20/40...

You should only need a power and ground to run the motor and air pump under the sead... Worst case senerio you need to run another power wire off the fuse box under the dash and underneath the carpet to the seat. and add another pig tail to the sheet metal on the floor for a ground.

As long as they are both from Extended Cabs they use the same base plate, where as the STD Cab and Crew Cabs use a different base plate. Been there done that type of thing....

Like YJ said. It has to be from a SUPERCAB. They use 3 separate mounting brackets, because the seats slide forward to get in the back. A reg cab and crew cab use a one piece mount that all 3 pieces bolt to and will physically bolt in place but you will NOT be able to access the supercab

Well I did the swap and it was super easy! All the electrical connectors just plugged right up to each other.

The power driver seat works fine the only problem is the power lumber does not inflate or deflate... just silence can't even hear the little motor running.

As long as they were from a reg cab or crew cab they will bolt right in. If from a supercab, you will have to get creative with the mounting

Hey 90pioneer, do you still have the center console? Want to get rid of it?
If so, what color is it?

Thanks,
Phy

If you have your regular cab 40-20-40 mounting plate, the captain's chairs (with their respective adjusting tracks) should mount right to the mounting plate. Also, these [reg. cab] mounting plates are stamped to accept the center consoles that go with the captain's chairs: There are three pre-drilled holes ready & waiting.

So, someone in engineering @ Ford prepared for the captain's chairs/console combo to be a possible option for regular and/or crew cabs but apparently others in the Ford hierarchy did not see fit to make it an RPO.

Great, thanks for the helpful info.!! Now I just need to track down some tan seats and center console and make the swap. Might have better luck when the junkyard gets some more trucks in the spring though, but I am in northern MN so I'd probably be lucky to find any in decent shape.

You will need to retain the 40-20-40 seat pan AND the seat tracks off the seats. The 40-20-40 seat tracks sit ALOT lower than the supercab seat tracks. If you bolt the supercab seat and tracks to the reg cab seat pan, you will be hitting your head on the ceiling

Do you know which exact seat tracks are needed? Do you have a part number or something? I've been looking online and cant find these sliders anywhere... But I would like to get a part number, and then see what other applications they came in. Try to better my chances at finding some. Thanks.
