Simple...go to a used car lot and take one for a test drive...you just happen to test drive it over to the local college...

Keep minimal people up by the front row...stuff them all in the rear section...the rear section is pretty stout...I'm not sure what could be broken back there...fold down the seats and remove the third row...and stuff away!...count the peeps and drive back to car lot...tell them it doen't quite fit the size of your family...lol...

21 easily, you could have each passenger sit on anothers lap.
1st row = 3 (driver + 2 passenger)
2nd row = 8 (4 and 4 on lap)
3rd row = 6 (3 and 3 on lap)
cargo = 4 (2 on each side facing in)
I think 35 is doable
