Computer from a 90 work in 94?
#4
I am going to go against the grain here and say yes it may likely work, but if the calibration codes are not the same the results may not be 100%. I would not mix and match Federal versus California emission calibrations but for the most part the calibration on the PCMs for the F350 did not change much until they eventually went to OBD-II.

The chances that a 1990 will have the same C/C as a 1994 are about nil.
And... I would not install a computer from a 1994 into a 1990, without verifying it will work, because it may do more harm than good.
I haven't looked thru the C/C charts for 1990/1999's recently, but I do know that...
1980/89 F100/350, F(Super Duty), Bronco, Econoline, Aerostar, Ranger and Bronco II: There are over SIX HUNDRED different C/C's, I kid you not.
And,...there usually is more than one C/C for a specific year/engine vehicle. For example, a 1989 F150 w/a 302 sold new in CA could have as many as THIRTY different C/C's.

I am not sure what issue you are trying to resolve by switching computers. For troubleshooting purposes I see no reason why you could not substitute one for the other. They are both OBD-I and Speed Density. You stated they came from the same engine and transmission combination so there should not be a huge difference between the two. Yes there will be differences for emission purposes and shift points for different gearing, but that is a trade-off you will be faced with.
