Same horn ring used with same 3 spoke steering wheels, use different center plastic inserts: 1960/63 Falcon/Comet / 1961/70 F100/250 2WD / 1969/70 F350.

1961/66 F100/250's have a gear/lightning bolt emblem. I don't recall what 1967's have, but 1968/70's have a Ford oval center emblem, it's not blue.

Thanks again NumberDummy. Does CODF-13A800D sound like the correct horn ring?

This is the correct center for your '66,assuming its 2WD, also used on '64 and '65. the one with "Product of Ford Motor Company". http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-FORD-TRUCK-STEERING-WHEEL-HORN-BUTTON-213-/321085255576?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac22c2f98&vxp=mtr Seller states " 1963" which is wrong. 61-63 used the gear and lighting bolt center.

Yes, but that's the ID number marked on the backside of it, it's not the part number.

Tripleframe says '66 250's do not have gear a lighting bolt emblems on horn buttons. I bet Tripleframe is right, he has provided accurate complete information on every post I've seen, and you are wrong, unless of course, you can prove it. Your answer is a shot gun answer, all over the place and missing the direct question.

Horn buttons had the gear/lightning emblem...it was cast into it...as it was also on the 4WD Custom Cab horn rings...only the 2WD chrome horn ring used on 64-66 trucks as well as the early Falcons that used the potmetal ring vs the painted steel used 67-71 trucks...same ring otherwise...these rings had an insert in the center that was changeable in most instances. The truck insert on all 64-66 CC 2WD horn rings said product of Ford Motor Company around the outer edge with the Ford oval in the center with black background and silver or white logo/lettering.

CS65... you are right as usual, except the Merc trucks have the lightning bolt.
By the way... that was one very angry hornet that flew out of the heater control valve you sent me!
But thanks nevertheless.

"Dolichovespula maculata" : Bald-faced hornet, actually not a true hornet but a wasp without the yellow markings. Not terribly aggressive but will deliver a nasty sting if he gets the chance. I think he went in the valve tube to nap for the winter when you weren't looking.
I think the gear/lightning bolt centre is removable but I don't want to check - the Dennis Carpenter "nylon" retainer is as tough as candle wax.

Thanks oaklandford, yes the ND is wrong. When the ND doesn't respond, it means he is wrong. I have noticed he does'nt "man up" and admit when he is wrong, he will just blames his parts books. I am sure plenty of others on this site know he is wrong also on this one, but they refuse to say anything for fear of loosing there free source of vin decodes and part searches.

I'm glad you mentioned the nylon retainer, I bought a repro and it broke the first time I applied the horn. They evidently need to rework the formulation of that plastic. Does anybody know a good place to find one that will last?

I'm going to look for a good used one and try to restore it with a bath in boiling water - works for all things nylon apparently. Did I learn that here?
The "spring" under the horn ring looks like a piece of coathanger in a crude coil. Also DC.
