300,000 mile checkup
Guys I have 296,000+ miles on my truck now and am wokdering what to look out for, listen for, check up on, etc. I'm replacing the clutch now so while it was down I also rebuilt my turbo, have an oring kit to rebuild my fuel bowl, replaced the up-pipe gaskets (can't afford bellowed pipes right now), and installed a wicked wheel to get rid of my surge. I've lost some power and mileage over the last year or 25,000 miles; down from 18 to 15 and there was a lot of oil in the compressor side of the turbo. I also smoke noticably more than I used to. I know some guys have hpop and injector issues around 300,000 but what do I look for? How do you know if your injectors or hpop are going bad/getting weak? My engine is stock except for small stuff like exhaust, intake, and Stupidchip

I think you need the "checkup" more than ur truck does...
Alright, all jokes aside, think an AE will tell you about the injectors and hpop life. The oil in the compressor is nothing more than the CCV routed into the intake side of the turbo..normal. You could, if money allows, replace the hpop lines, rebuild the oil cooler, and install some G.P'z..

Check your EBP Tube and sensor:
Welcome to guzzle's Exhaust Backpressure Sensor Cleaning Maintenance Web Page
Check for fuel leaks. Fuel in the valley, and smell of fuel in the engine compartment
Welcome to guzzle's Powerstroke Fuel Bowl Rebuild Web Page
Check pressures. Oil, fuel, etc. They give you an idea of the health of everything.
You should also crack open your valve covers.
Oh, and quit smoking. It'll kill ya

Change your fluids & filters (oil, fuel, transmission, diff, steering, brake, coolant, etc.) Change your serpentine belt and inspect the pulleys. Rotate your tires and change the air freshener.
The new fuel seems to get worse mileage than the old stuff. My truck smokes more now than I remember it doing in the beginning and my fuel mileage has dropped by about 1 MPG. I changed my injectors out at 350,000 miles and it had no effect on fuel mileage or amount of smoke or anything except my pocketbook.
