Well not really, I've had an account here for a short while now. Just have never posted. Until now. (that I recollect) So here's my story (please feel free to laugh).

I'm a Jeeper at heart. I've owned countless Jeeps love them, and miss most of them. I grew up with Fords and switched over in my mid 20's. Well time has come around and there just aren't any full size jeep trucks worth buying. And I WON"T own a chevy. Ya know how much junk talk the chevy guys would give me on the trails?

So I went with my second love. A good Ford. The last Ford I owned was carbureted but as this is primarily for towing I wanted fuel injection. So this is what I ended up with:
A 1989 Ford F350 SRW crew Cab Long Bed 4x4. Sorry won't own a 2by just gets stuck. Also needed the crew cab for a few little reasons running around here. So it's not what I would have picked for my Dream tow rig (yeah that Super Duty F550 Diesel Dually was WAY outta my price range!!!)

I really like the body style and parts are good and plentiful. And how different can it be from the old carbureted trucks I use to own (well besides those little injector--ma--call-its).

So now down to the good stuff. I used the VIN decoder which tells me the G engine code is a 351. However every part store tells me the G is a 460? However I'm guessing my bet is right cuz I replaced the EGR Valve position sensor on it with one I ordered for a 351W. Now is this where you tell me, it's the same part number for both? or is that the dead give away?

Next question, every thing i can find tells me it should have an E40D transmission. But that's a 4 speed, this is a 3 speed. So I'm stumped. Either it's not the stock tranny and someone's dropped a C-3 in it. Or all the information I'm reading online is wrong, or I'm just blind, deaf and dumb and can't feel the fourth gear kick in on the highway.

Also not sure if this is a give away, but the exhaust manifold bolts back out enough to give a little pop fairly quickly. 5 minutes and a lil' cussin' and it's all back and quiet again. (well except for the Flow Master) oh and I know people here luv pics I bet so I'll throw one up.

Would it be a C6? Do you have an OverDrive Off bottom on the end of your shifter (indicating E4OD)?
Take a pic of the motor and it will be pretty apparent which motor you have. The 460 fills the engine bay pretty well, the 351 has some room around it.

Manifolds 'touch' the frame rails on both sides. The shifter ain't got a button on the end. Could be a C-6 I suppose.. don't really know anything about those. Last ford I owned was a manual.. come to think of it every ford I've owned has been a manual....

I'll get that picture for you...

Nice looking truck. I'd like to get a crewcab someday. Also on the motor. A 351w says 5.8 liter on the intake manifold.

Awesome! Thanks.

Also I know the pictures don't show it that well, but can you tell if those are the stock exhaust manifolds, or after market headers?
