E-fan for the E4OD cooler up front:

Some days ago, i went to this very mointanous area, and i spent the whole day roaming around, it was also a hot day, and my tranny seemed to overheat a little (it leaked almost 1 qt. of ATF). I'm thinking i could address this issue by installing a small e-fan in front of it (i just started to play with the idea). What do you guys think?.

Why not simply get a tranny cooler? Easier to mount, etc...And not have to worry about it getting torn off, or simply not working....Just my .02 though...

If you decide to do it, look on ebay for a cooling fan from a motorcycle. When people turn a streetbike into a racebike, they remove them to save weight. The newer ones are very compact and run on 12v.

Side, i already have a cooler, but either it isn't working right or the climate really is hurting the tranny. Thx bash, that sounds like a great idea, i might look into that.

They make different sized ones....Might even be able to get another, and link them together...Just a thought...

I just don't fancy electric fans in a auto setting...

i just bought a 7" fan off amazon to mount to my trans cooler.wired her up via a relay and switch.the little 500cfm sucker really sings! was like 17 bucks.i dunno if it will actually last or not,but for the $ i figured id try.
iv used it a couple times already and it does lower the temps.not as fast of course as getting up to converter lockup speed, but not bad at all.
can't wait to see what she does when i hook the plow up.i figure i'll probably still have to stop and wait like last year, but at least with the fan on there, the wait time should be much quicker now.maybe i can clear my whole sisters monster long drive in one shot by turning the fan on before i start plowing.
either way,i won't let trans temps pass 200 degrees.my E4OD treats me good.i return the favor.

edit;
ah here you can see it mounted behind the cooler in a pic in this post:

if you think it would be something required often enough, you could keep it all auto controlled,so you didn't have to worry about turning it on and off by just getting one of the basic e-fan relay controls on ebay/amazon 25-30$ ish range.
it's not something i need often,so i opted to control it manually.the switch i got has an LED when on,and looks very neat mounted beside my trans temp gauge on the pillar pod.

you may be masking a problem with an e-fan for your cooler then.
what are your trans temps running @ the test port? or fluid temps before the cooler if you have your sensor there?
is your converter locking up properly?
did you pull the return side off and start the truck for a second or two,to make sure neither the stock or aftermarket cooler is plugged up?
what type of aftermarket cooler do you have? and what size is it?
how is the engine temp?
if you don't have a trans temp gauge, what leads you to think shes running hot? has she been getting so hot, that she's actually dumped out fluid passed the pump seal or?
