Concrete white spots

Concrete white spots!

Had a contractor pour a 4' x 20' long 3.5 inch walk way in between house and wall, concrete is 6 days old it is growing white spots some small some large where other things have touched it, they did put a light brown color in it. any ideas?

My thought is that the concrete is curing.
The surface is drying out and the dye may not have taken hold of the surface in those areas.

I wouldn't worry about it just yet...full cure won't come for 28 days. It's going to bleach out to that lighter color.

The spot at the top looks like there was a puddle of water.

It's fine, the white spots show up when you use the slick trowel. It's just the moisture coming out of the concrete. eventually it will all be white.Around here we use a "broom" finish, so you don't see the spots.

Damn I had no idea it would take that long.....I hope it ides get better ...

Spot on...no pun...it was a puddle of water....

If it had not been colored, would you have not seen the white spots

Be careful not to drag anything on it for a couple of days, you can still scratch it pretty deep

Don't rush it Tim. In fact, keep it as wet as you can the first few weeks. Spritz it with your hose a couple of times a day (weather permitting). What you want is a slow, even cure. Should take about 30 days and the color will even out mostly. Dyes are a bit hard to control uniformly, your contractor should have explained that to you.
