Not sure if its the same thing but when I put mine in 4wd and the front end is doing all the work it pops hard when you first take off hard. Sorry I have not figured it out yet but Im looking forward to some ideas so I can look at this as well

What transfercase are u guys running?? If it's chain driven it could very well be a stretched chain popping on the gears. I had an NP203 that popped horribly, swapped in a NP205 and the noise is gone. Another thing I can think of is maybe the radius arm bushings at the frame.

Does this sound happen only in 4wd or does it happen in 2wd as well? What about the hubs? locked/unlocked?

When you take off hard you squat the rear and lift the front, so if thats the only time it happens, it COULD be something mechanical that is strained by your hard take off, but its also possible that it is something that is being stressed by being lifted six inches and then having additional droop added by rear squatting. Things like the above suggested radius arm bushings, or maybe the u joint maxing out its travel and hitting shoulder to shoulder... did you install long driveshafts?

ill look into the transfer case im not sure what it is off the top of my head. i believe the driveshafts are stock length.. i know i know... ive put a ****load of miles on this truck and it just started makin the noise a few weeks ago. i think it might be doing it on quick left turns too, makin me think it might be the bad drag link.. and this is in 2wd. sad to say it dosent see that much 4wd.

Could be ball joints even.

With it lifted six, I'm betting its just something that is strained to maximum deflection, like radius arms, driveshaft u joints, draglink, something like that.
