Hey gang,

Just wanted to show you my newest project.

My buddy Manny ended up in alot of the photo's unkown to him. he he


I found a 53-54 chassis locally for $50.00



and lengthened the chassis more than enough to accomplish the space necessary to add the extra cab.


I also found a 56 cab locally for short money that was already sandblasted.


First I wanted to remove the unmolested dash for resale.



Then we removed the fire wall


and kept on cutting both cabs until we got to this point.

 

Looks great so far! Did you leave enough on the second cab's hinge posts to attach the doors? I'm curious how you'll fill in the empty space between the cabs and make a new roof.

 

The gap that is currently between the two cabs is about an inch more than necessary for the hinge pockets.

The empty space between the two cabs and the roof will require some metal work. Basically the rain gutter has to be created between the two cabs, and then create a new roof from cab to cab, Front to back.

 

If you are planning to make a new roof, there is another thread by someone who needs a '56 roof skin.

 

is this the first 53-56 crew cab built ? good work so far .

Very cool stuff. Can't wait to see further progress.

 

Unfortunetly the existing roof is going to get sectioned to give me the radius i need at the windshield and over the doors.

 

Ive looked thru his gallery previously. He did a ton of work to that truck.

Not a whole lot of pre-painted/pre-mudded pics though.

 

Hope it is going well for ya. i'm anxious to see more. Plan on doing this one day with an f600.

hey guys, things have been moving along great. Got the cab corners in, rockers, in and the inner rockers done.










We Had to rebuild the rear crossmember, it was worse than it looked when i bought the cab, but i wouldnt know what to do if i didnt have to rebuild the whole truck.










With the onset of winter we had to switch gears and get the Oil Tank Wood Heater built.

 

Good welding looks great,nice heater. when you get done wanna come do my project when i get it going? haha. sorry about your cross member but thats how it goes. glad to see everything is coming along tho. take care happy building.
