and we have a finished dash extension.

I built a dash extension like the one you have pictured here on my panel but my glove box was filled in, I'm doing a pickup now and made another extension the same as my panel but planned on keeping the glove box this time. I forgot how the glove box door opened, it doesn't work with this type of extension. I was thinking of using a piano hinge. Have you come up with an idea to mend this BOO BOO

Well.... actually I have come up with a way to overcome the blocked glove box issue, and tested it to make sure it works.

I too have seen many dash extensions with the funny slot under the glove box in order to retain the function of the glove box.

However until I have a finished product I cannot divulge that information.

Until I get my oversized A/C - Heater installed and do my finial layout I cannot divulge that.

But don't worry, I will be sharing. And when you see what I have found to solve the problem you will be thinking "why didn't I think of that"!!!

Does it require any welding? If not I can wait.

Your application wouldn't require any welding. And my idea will be a screw in type install.

Because the area behind my glove box door is going to be very congested, I may need a weld or two for auxiliary brackets to support my install. I was able to mock up and test (successfully) without the a/c-heater installed. I need to double check the install once the finial brackets are made.

I haven't picked up my A/C unit for this build yet but still have the shallow box left over from the panel that wasn't used. I'm interested to see what you have come up with so please keep me posted.

How soon will we know. I am about to build a dash extension and could use some ideas for the glove box door.

Well gang, its been a while but after a long winter nap we are back at it again.

It was time to pull the engine / transmission and start boxing the frame.

Before starting to mock up the plates the chassis was treated to a pressure washing.

Then a template was made up out of white plastic and then transferred to some 1/8 plate to use as my boxing material.

Cut out rough.

And started fitting the plates to the chassis

fitted, clamped, ground, cut, fitted, clamped, ground, and repeated until each side was a nice fit.

Well, time to weld the boxing plates in....

Got the tops all welded in, laid on the creeper..... slide under the chassis.... flip down the welding lens..... click the trigger.... and no wire.

Thinking to my self that the wire must have fused to the tip....I slide out from under the truck.... check the tip.. and nope... no fused wire.

Further investigation revealed that the contactor on the old girl burnt out. Looks like the welding is over for the weekend.

so..... Sunday turned into a help my buddy build some doors for his wife's barn day.
