Tune up on 02 250 CC 5.4?
Hi everyone, well my 02 f-250 cc 5.4 auto 3.73 has just over 170,000 miles. I am going to do a tune up in the next 2 weeks due to up comming road trip from VA-TX-NV-VA. Well I changed the Plugs and put new Boots on at 100,000 miles, changed all the Fluids about 150,000 miles. Besides Plugs and oil and maybe tranny fluid what else should I look at? I was thinking of new coil boots or maybe even new coils. How about the injectors. I had the BG injector service done( i cant tell that it helped at all). We are getting 09-11.2 in town, 13-14.5 Hwy and 10 towing my Jeep. Also how about the Timing chain should I worry about it?

I wouldnt worry about the timing chain, never heard of one snaping, just stretching and slapping or the tensioners going bad or the guides breaking,which is far and inbetween but in either case you will have a constant chatter, but it will run, as far as the plugs might be a good idea since you have 70,000 on them, sounds like your coils are original too one could go at any time but thats around 400 in parts alone to change them, injectors are almost twice that, gas mileage sounds right to me thats what i get.

Well had the Plugs and Coils replaced, TB, Intake, Injector service and Tranny Flush done. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Runs soooooo Good now. Its the Wifes truck and she is so Happy now. Way more Power, smother idle and Way better Mileage.
We were down to abound 9-10 now back up to almost 16.

Not sure what your maintenance intervals but at 170K miles most of those things mentioned were long long past due. Plugs maybe go 50K miles--at least check them then. Most fluids apart from engine oil maybe 24K > 30K but not much more.

I change the Oil ever 3000-4000 miles with the MotorCraft 5w20 and MotorCraft filter, coolant ever 24 months, Tranny ever 30,000-40,000 miles, rear diff fluid ever 75,000 with Valvoline full syn and PS fluid at 150,000. I did the plugs at 100,000, never worried about the coils till about a month ago when it felt like it lost a bunch of power. The injector service was a B&M my shop did it for $79. Had a Ujoint also replaced I had a Zerk break off so could not grease. Its tha wifes truck and she Loves it and besides its been paid off for ever so we are going to get another 150,000 miles out of it.
