1979 Honda XR 100

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1979 Honda XR 100, the guy who owned it just got his liscense and needs money, he rode it pretty hard but also just rebuilt motor (valve train only), I was just curious as to what you guys thought if I could get this for real cheap, like around $200 does it sound like a good deal.

$200 doesnt sound too bad. Hondas are bullet proof. Do you have any experience rebuilding small motors? It might need to be done some time. What does the rest of the bike look like? Did he slam rocks all the time, or is the frame nice and clean, with only scratches? If its just minor stuff, the age shouldnt affect it. If it has big ol dings in it, you might not have the best frame. Also, has he put any money into it for new sprockets, chains, handlebars, etc? Anyways, what do you really expect for $200??

79 Honda XR100 Great starter bike I started on a 75-77 XR 75 basicaly the same bike, as wheelMA1 said, their bullet proof my old XR75 is still running strong after being passed through the family for the last 20+ years. I say go for it!

I just picked up a mint Yamaha YZ 490 last Sunday a little loud but a lot of fun
