i have hears that removing smog and pollution on the motor would increase hp? is that true? if so what all could i remove and still run fine. also just curios could i use the air pump thats already in there to fill up a air tank that i would install. any info or thoughs would be helpfum thanks and i have a 94 5.0
No you can't use the AIR smog pump to fill an air tank. It doesn't build any real pressure. Mechanically speaking anything that runs off the belt is robbing power. You can get a air pump delete kit from a mustang to remove said air pump. They run about $35-50.

The pump, the hose and canister on the P/S fenderwell, behind the battery....And the other hose that comes off the top of the pump...Goes to the AIR system.....
And I'm wanting to say theres one coming off the exhaust...Check and see...
The only thing you'll archieve doing this is having some sensors not picking their signals and messing with your performance, i should know, since i lost a couple of MPG after i remover my Air Pump (couldn't get a replacement around these parts). Performance-wise i gained absolutely nothing.
The engine was designed, built and tested with all emissions control devices equipped. Removing them for the sake of removing them may hurt power, fuel economy, or both. The days of gross horsepower ratings died with the muscle cars of the 70's-since then its all net power which is more realistic.
