Automatic to Manual hub ?'s

I am looking to switch my hubs out here shortly with some Warn Manual hubs. I have push button 4x4 on my 91 xlt lariat. I was looking at the hubs and it stated that for full time 4x4 you will need a transfer case conversion kit. I don't believe that I have full time 4x4 but could be wrong. If so what is needed for the conversion? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

No truck since 78 or 79 came with a full time transfer case.

You just need the hubs, and the bearing nut conversion kit. This will change your front wheel bearing nuts to the manual hub style-2 nuts with a washer in between.
Your transfer case is not full time, it's a part time unit that is shifted electronically.

I guess I don't know what full time vs part time transfer case is refering to... I would have ignorantly thought a ft vs pt case would have meant the difference between the push button and floor shift transfer cases.... dumb i know...

Andy,
Could you educate us and give a good explanation of a FT vs PT t-case???? I need to learn!!!!!!

A part-time transfer case is when the front driveshaft only receives power part of the time. A full-time transfer case is found in all wheel drive vehicles and both axles receive power 100% of the time. They don't work like part-time cases do, though. They act as a differential between the front and rear axles because the driveline would bind if they were locked together. This is why you can't run a part-time 4wd truck on dry pavement. It will hop and skip around corners and eventually something will break.

Some AWD vehicles have an option to lock the center differential to give it the same capabilites as a part-time transfer case.

If you have the auto hubs with 5 screws it's a direct swap. Take out the auto hubs/guts, put manual hub/guts in.

Thanks for all the help on this guy's. I'm not sure if I have the 3 hole or the 5 hole, I will have to check when I get home. Also I don't know if this is correct but I thought I read somewhere on here that you need a special tool to pull the hub out, Is this correct or not?

No special tool needed. A thin screwdriver helps if you dont have snap ring pliers.
