How many 1951 1952 Mercury M1's with tags?

Please venture a guess. 10? 150?
For that matter how many 51/52 Ford F1's with tags?
Or a bigger picture- how many 1948 to 1952 Ford and Merc F1/M1's are licienced for the road? 100? 2000? 5000?

I just can't guess.
Cheers

I wondered the same thing about 1948 M-47's back in 2000. I even asked the questions in the Old Autos newspaper printed in Bothwell Ontario. I ended up collecting information on mercury trucks via the " Canadian Mercury Truck Registry." I got information of over 200 mercury trucks.
I just dug out my old binders There was about thirty 1951-52 mercury trucks on file. Mostly M-1 but a few M-3, M-6 in there too. Not much of an answer but they are out there and most were on the road and running.

Thanks Greg M-47 !!!
Thanks for sharing your hard work.
My 1951 M1 should join the "road-runners" in 6 months or so.
All the best!

Mine is licensed for legal road use with permanent registration year of manufacture plates, but it's not even close to roadworthy. One day...

Your wecome Kid. I've gotten away from collecting info on Mercs but have all the info that I did find here in the computer room. I thought finding stuff for the '48-'50 mercs was hard to find til I started looking for some parts for a 1952 Mercury truck.
There was only a couple '52's at the truck show in Arthur this year.

1952 M-1

Dredging up old thread... I started mine this weekend and drove a few miles. I keep it licensed and insured year round, but I only drive a few hundred miles during the summer months.

My 49 M47 is licensed to drive. I take it to 8 or 10 shows a year, so far. I dont even try to take it on the highway. She will do about 40 mph but seems a lot happier at 30.

No hard feelings. But at 40 she's whining out pretty good. I dont have a tach so I dont know the exact RPM's. I've got the trany out now and I'm putting in a new clutch. I want to see if that makes any difference.
I have been waiting a week and a half for O'Reilys. I dont feel any closer then I did a week ago. I generally have good luck with them.
This is an 11" with a 1 3/8 , 10 spline shaft. If it were a 1 1/16" shaft there would be no problem. Everyone has one of those. At least thats what I'm being told.
