I'm in the market for a new truck and I'm leaning towards a F-250 with the 6.2L engine. I was wondering how many of you out there own one already and what are your thoughts on it. Any and all information would be helpful especially relating to MPG, towing capability, and durability (yes, I know it's a new engine for 2011).

I'll have had mine for one year tomorrow.

The only issue I've had so far was the herky jerky shifting from first to second, which was cured with a trans re-flash. I haven't had any of the other trans or engine problems.

It tows our 7600# trailer with ease. Many pull much more weight and report no trouble.

Mileage for me is usually between 12.5 and 14 city, and I've seen as much as 17.5 on the highway at 65 mph. Towing is in the high 7's to mid 8's.

I couldn't be happier overall. Great truck loaded with technology and the productivity screen is cool as hell. The only thing I don't like is that the stock Conti tires suck big time in the snow.

Had the trans issue, was resolved with the reflash. Few other minor cosmetic issues that it's going in for soon, nothing drivetrain wise though. More than satisfied with my purchase. Getting ~10mpg city, ~14hwy.

Try to get a truck with the Michelin's on it, even though they're too soft of a tire for this truck, they do great in the winter months.

 

I have only 1500 miles on my '12 f250 with the 6.2. It's the first gas engine I've had since 1974 and I like it better than the diesels. It is very responsive. I 'm only getting 14 mpg. but regular gas is .50 gal less than diesel.Over all I like it better than any new truck i've had.

I have 13,000kms on mine now and I love it. I'm glad I got the 6.2L. I carry 3000lbs in the box almost all the time and the truck has power to spare.

 

I don't keep track myself, but according to Fuelly.com I get on average 12.1mpg that's highway and city. I also drive very hard, I love the loud pedal. My best is 14.5mpg. Keep in mind most of those miles are with 3000lbs in the box.

 

Great engine, tons of power, i'd recommend the 4:30 rear if you're going to be towing frequently. I just pulled a 11,500 5th wheel and it was handled with ease!!! One thing i've learned first hand and from reading other post is you cant be scared when pulling heavy, to let that 6.2 wind out to near redline when you're merging into traffic(sounds really cool too!!!)

Gas mileage.....well im not starting a mileage debate but i think some folks on here could have wishful thinking if there getting anything over 14mpg, but then again im running 305 BFG a/t tires and i run 70-75 on the expressway empty and i might be getting 12.5 if im lucky. I suppose if i went down to 65mph i could squeeze 13 out of it but here in Michigan you'd get ran off the road going that slow!

I love mine and have not had any problems with it at all, not even with the shifting thing. This motor love the heavy weight behind it and in the bed too. Seems like the more weight I put in the bed while towing the camper the better the truck handles. Plenty of power and very roomy inside and not a bad ride either. I avg. 8.7 mpg with the camper and a golf cart in the bed doing 70 mph on the hwy. The gross weight was 18,500 lbs fully loaded for camping and 5 people in the truck. I couldn't be happier with my decision on getting the gas motor.

 

8000mi. no problems yet traded a diesel for the gas no regrets.15mpg driving to work 8mpg towing no mods.

 

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I currently own a 2006 F-150 4x4 Screw with a 5.4L engine and I have to say that the mileage isn't all that different. I would say between one and two MPG. Good news!
