FOM Bell Housing

Thanks for your reply. I have a EGC 272 Y Block, and a small case, 9.875 in. Ford O Matic Transmission (B9AP), which I believe is a 1959 Ford O Matic. I also have a smooth torque converter that I believe came with the Ford O Matic. At this point, I believe, all I need is the right Bell Housing, and a Fly Wheel. Your Bell Housing sounds correct if it is from a truck and has the mounting ears on it for the cross member, and is not a air cooled type Bell Housing. Do you have some pictures you could email to me so I could have a look? It would be very helpful. Also, any info or advice would be appreciated. Thx
P.S. All of this is going into a 1956 F100, original Big Window, original Ford O Matic Truck. Trying to get as close to original as I can.

How much for the column? Does it have the indicator? I have a 351W and c4 combo for my 55 and want it to look stock in the cab.

Hi TxF100,
Thanks for posting the pictures of your bell housing. The Ford-O-Matic that I have is a small case. 9 7/8 inches. It has the tubing for the trans cooler to go to the radiator. I have a smooth torque converter, and have access to a finned one. The smooth TC is for the radiator cooled, and the finned TC is for the air cooled, at least this is what I have been told. It appears that your bell housing is the air cooled type. Do you know of any way I can make all of this work?? I would think I could use the finned TC, with the air cooled type bell housing, and also run the cooling lines from the Ford-O-Matic to the raditor. The bolt pattern measurements on my Ford-O-Matic are:
Across the top on centers = 7 inches
Across the bottom on centers = 11 inches
Diagnal top to bottom = 5 1/8 inches
It appears in the picture that the bolt pattern is bigger, it is hard to tell with photos. If you send me an email I will forward some pictures of my Ford-O-Matic and Torque Converter.

Thanks, RLLB13 rus.leblanc@verizon.net

My 55 had a cooler on it's side that was hooked to the heater hoses that cooled the trans fluids. it was not just air cooled, but rather both. I will have to check the measurements in a couple of weeks as the bellhousing is up at my barn.
