I emailed Ford today on this. I wonder if they will respond.
I don't care about the squatting. Just seems when a trailer is on the truck, it seems like the frame is in turmoil and bending..... The pics show the huge gap at the top and small gap at the bottom.
Gosh I'm worried about this guys. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Just for giggles have you measured your tounge weight at the ball? Even being all aluminum depending on how the axels are set it could get a little heavy. My two car hauler is a tag type trailer; I do have a distributing hitch setup but with 1,500 pounds on the ball I don't see any change in my box gap. (My 350 is srw).

Take it by your dealer with the trailer hooked to it and see what they say. Show them the bed lines. Oh, if you really think it is a problem, take pics of the bed with and without the trailer with measurements....

I remember seeing a frame strength comparison between the C channel frame on the Fords and the GM had the fully boxed frame. The Fords flex big time with their C channel frames. That is a little concerning though with just a trailer on flat ground!!!

Mine does that too. No issues. Pulled a 30ft. new hurricane cargo trailer loaded to the roof. Probably about 13,500lbs is what I guessed. Truck squatted with it on there. But now I have the airlift bags in the back. Haven't towed with it yet but will this week. Even our 10,000lb. tt made it squat just as bad and it had a weight distributing hitch.

You need a set of airbags with wireless controller. That way once it's attached you can bring it right back to level.

Guys I did want to report on this I know it has been a while.....

I emailed Ford and this is what I got...

According to data that was provided by our Technical Subject Matter Expert, the frames on heavier trucks are designed to flex some. This is because if it was completely rigid then it could crack under heavy stress. Therefore, the circumstances that you described from your vehicle are of normal characteristics.

I still was worried about it bending my frame while towing. It bends when towing and returns when trailer is off. It seems that over time the frame will stay bent if I tow too much so I sold the truck and stepped on up to the F350 Superduty DRW. It still tries to bend some but nowhere near as bad. I was just scared after a few years of owning this truck that the frame would be permenantly bent.

I did want to update this post though so that if there is an issue out there then it can be a resource for info.

cute! They really need to at least go back to the type of springs in the 08-10 models.

For towing with a traditional weight-carrying hitch (as in, not using a weight distributing hitch, fifth-wheels hitch, or goose-neck hitch) Ford says no more than 850lbs tongue weight/8500lbs trailer weight with the 6.7L diesel in an F250/F350 SRW truck.

In your case, I would really measure the tongue weight and see what you're at. Not sure what your trailer weighs, but if it's 4,000lbs empty and you've got 15% tongue weight unloaded, that's 600lbs on the hitch before you even put anything in the trailer!
