F100 for $100

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted on FTE. I was working on my '55 F100 but the funds dried out. Well I'm still tight on the budget, but I just couldn't let this go.

This truck has been in my neighbor's back yard since 1997. I've been eyeballing it for about 3-4 yrs now. Well I finally went and talked to him about it. He really tried to talk me out of it. "It needs a lot of work." "It doesn't run." I thought he was going to ask a lot.

I told him, "I've give you $100 for it, as is." He thought about it and said, "well you've beat me on the price. Take it." I was stoked!!!

I was hoping it had the Y-block but it has the 223, 3 on the tree. The valves were way off. So after a valve adjustment and a little gas down the carb, it fired up. It does need a fuel pump, brakes, clutch work.

Wow great bargain. Welcome to the fridge club, looks to be in good shape overall. Might be a good DD while you work on the 55.

That's funny, I use to do that with my dad's '77 F100. I bought it to be a DD. I've sanded off most of the rust and banged out most of the dents. I can't wait to get it on the road.

Oh, the humanity!!!! Why did you get rid of the patina??? I guess it's not for everyone. Let us know when you get it on the road.

51PanelMan, Don't want it to rust away. It'll come back if I sand off the primer.

Back in June of 2006 I bought this 58 Ranchero at a yard sale for $100. I sold it a month later on eBay for $2k. The profit was good, but in retrospect, I should have kept it and got her running.

Nice truck, I think those '57-'60 stylesides are SHARP. And hey, just about any running truck is a great deal for $100.

I have to say, though, that I like the '57 front end the best over the other '57-'60 ford trucks... but I think if I ever bought a '58-'60, I'd be tempted to do a custom grill... maybe something like this:

Is my bias towards the monkey-face f1's showing through???
