I have found many threads about a 1309 code. I had changed the CMP and Syncro, reset the PCM. Yes I used a Syncro tool. But after 60 Ks of driving check engine and the code comes back. Any thoughts?

 

What year is your Explorer, and which engine does it have?

So is it after 60k miles, or 60 kms, that the light came back on? The factory service manual suggests using a DMM (or scope) to backprobe the CMP sensor and confirm that over varying engine speed, the CMP output varies by more than 0.1Vac.

The manual continues to suggest that if the CMP voltage varies by more than 0.1Vac, replace the PCM. If not, replace the CMP. Did you happen to go with an OEM Motorcraft CMP sensor or an aftermarket?

After 60 Ks or so, Ive replace both the CMP and Syncro. The CMP was after market. Have not had anytrouble with after market before. What Im thinking is I should run a full restore cycle.
