where can i buy a radiator core support for my 97 f350 i can only find ones for gassers

 

Used , or from Ford is the general opinion ...

 

Theres gotta be somthing out there im not paying $782 from ford and im from new england used parts are just as rotted??

 

Try car-part.com , and check southern locations. Might cost $50 or so to have a boneyard remove it, and another $100 to have them ship it.

Hm, I wonder if there's one of those regional swap meets near you, where dudes come up from down south with rust-free parts to sell, and if somehow you could contact one or more of those vendors, and have them pull a rad support off a boneyard vehicle to bring to the next meet near you. Longshot, I know; I wouldn't even know how to find the vendor(s).

back in highschool, i had a friend at boces taking an autobody prigram order me one for my 92 f150 i had at the time, i paid under 100 bucks, but that was 6 or 7 years ago too. if you know anyone at a garage or body shop you might be able to get one cheaper

 

And it STILL will be the WRONG one, as stated above. Unless it's changed VERY recently, that listing is for a header that will NOT hold a PSD radiator. IIRC, it's only good for an IDI. An F150 support will definitely not work.

Which means...it's obsolete! Only one FoMoCo Dealer has it:

GATEWAY FORD-MERCURY in Tunkhannock PA has ONE = 570-836-3135.

What $$ amount this dealer will want for it, I dunno, y'all will have to call and ask.

I do know that if it's returned to FoMoCo for credit, the dealer will only get the net cost price, which is: $469.71.

And...no FoMoCo Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has F2TZ-16138-B, F2TZ-16138-C, F5TZ-16138-AAA

 

its has two listed, one gas, one diesel. psd is different vs idi? thats a pain.

inre to the radiator support: The 1990/2001 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog makes no mention of PSD being different than IDI.

Look at post #7. Do y'all see any mention of any PSD vs IDI differences? The info I typed came straight from this Ford truck parts catalog.

When I typed the part number into Ed's site, there are no differences listed.

So whoever claimed there is a difference...is mis-informed.

 

PSD has a considerably bigger radiator, without a cap.

 

you could always do what i did when i put 3" lift in. Replace the metal and reweld everything alot cheper and you can make it look just as nice,

 

That may have been the case originally, but not now.

Ford replaced the part number THREE TIMES (F2TZ-16138-B, F2TZ-16138-C, F5TZ-16138-AAA) to F4TZ-16138-A

Ergo: The radiator support is the SAME.

 

IF you buy the smaller replacement radiator at the same time. Makes sense that they'd do that; the early PSDs always ran cool, and were probably spec'ed with a too-large radiator. But you better know, if you're going with the aftermarket support, you have to have the newer radiator at the ready (still cheaper than dealer!). LMC should have some sort of notice to that effect in their listing.

 

I think the radiator was only different in 96 97, im pretty sure 94 95 stilll had caps on the radiator. hes got a 97 so i guess it doesnt matter anyways.

Id just get that one from lmc, and if it doesnt work, to save a few hundred, id make it work.

 

Both our '95s have the Degas bottle, and radiator with no cap, but the radiator is def. too big for the IDI support.

I think '95 was the transition year; RockAuto, et al, have listings for two different sets of rad hoses for '95. But I think it's only the VERY early part of the model year that has the old-school rad; our trucks were built in Feb and Mar '95.
