Radio Installed

I wanted a radio but where to put it was a problem. This was the only solution I could find. Had to remake the console. The other console only had the a/c vents in it. Not much room under the dash after all the a/c ducts and controls are in. 31/Larry48fi/101_0291.jpg[/IMG]

How do you like the GM column? I'm still deciding on what to do in that department

I've posted this before, I saw truck with the radio mounted behind the speaker grill. The grill was mounted to a piece of sheet metal with a hinge at the bottom and a retractable cable to pull and hold it in place. Couldn't tell there was radio in the truck.

I'm planning something similar for my radio and a/c. I was thinking of the radio and a/c controls in the center, and the a/c vents on either side. I'll paint it yellow to match the rest of the dash. Do you have two vents or four?

The radio looks like a natural with the panel that holds your guages!

I like the GM column because the EZ wiring harness has all the plugs for it. Also it only cost me $50.00 with the steering wheel. If you get one without a key it is easy and cheap to replace the lock cylinder. We had to make some modifications to install it.

There are four vents. One on each side and those two in the middle. This is how it was before the radio.

Larry, your work is truly amazing. I want you to be my neighbor. Just for some pointers, then I would leave you alone!

Larry, my wife loves the look of the brushed metal. Is that stainless? Did you make those yourself or purchase them? I may be changing my plan to something closer to what you have and any info would we nice. Thanks-Rusty
