Somebody at Ford is my Damn HERO!!!!

As part of designing all the mods I want to make, I need to make a 2 inch hole in the firewall for the 22 pin bulkhead connector and to review what changes to the power wires that would be done.

Weather Pack 22 position bulkhead connector kit DIYAutoTune.com

So I was pouring over the engine compartment. (laying literally accross the engine) and I noticed something that I never did befor.

Just to the fender side of the brake vacuum booster on the firewall is a large foil sticker.

When I started looking at it, it turned out to be a stick on weeathercover for a hole in the firewall.

A BLESSED 2 INCH HOLE!!!!! IN THE PERFECT PLACE!!!

It is accessable from the inside. The firewall soundpadding inside already has a die cutout for this. I just had to cut three small tabs that held it in.

The location also has two holes for mounting a bulkhead connector, but they are too large and far away for the Delphi unit. It will require drilling two SMALL holes for the mounting bolts only.

I could KISS the engineer at Ford right now that left that in there.

(and no, I did not cut through the foil yet....)

I used that hole for my wiring for my lighting. It works great. It's there for the manual transmission superduty's for the clutch pedal linkage and reservoir.

I think what you are talking about is the hole for the clutch pedal shift linkage.

This is what mine looks like. Could be different since you have an 05

Yep, that's the place. In my 05, though, I don't have the plastic. it is just a layer of really heavy foil tape type material.

All this time and I never knew about it. sheesh.

Would someone be willing to take a photo of the location from inside the cab? I tried to run a wire for my Maxbrake controller and could not find a hole to use. I ended up running it through the fender and in through the hole that is used for the door wiring. It works but I would rather use a hole in the firewall.
