1968 F600 361 Restoration - Need to find a clutch part

I am rebuiding a 1968 F600, 361 5 speed/2speed rear. It is missing a clutch part that may be called a "trunian pivot" or an "equalizer bar pivot bracket". This photo is of an old water truck, and the assembly is shown above the steering knuckle. The photo shows a cutout on the chassis with an angle bracket under the part in question. My truck has no cutout and the part in question bolts directly onto the chassis - my chassis has the holes on the top.

I don't have a book, so I don't know exactly what that part is called.
I may have to make one, but I'd still like the name! thanks

THERE ARE PHOTOS IN AN ALBUM ON THIS PROFILE

1968 F600 361 Restoration - need part i.d.

Not many responded to last thread - I am reposting the question.
there are photos on my profile:
Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - kgh's Album: kgh 1968 F600 rebuild

I am restoring a 5 speed/2 speed rearend that is missing a clutch piece. I found one at a boneyard, but no fit. My photos are of a water truck with similar engine, but mine has two bolt holes on top of the chassis for the missing part, rather than a cutout section and side mounted part. I've asked the on-line old Ford parts dealers, but no one can name the part.
One said "trunion pivot", another said "bar pivot bracket".

Any idea? I can get it if I can name it!

In my 1972 Shop Manual that part is referred to as "Equalizer Pivot Bracket 7507". The part number for it will be something like C8TZ-7507-A. Remember: I am just making up a part number but the correct part number will have 7507 in it.

kgh, you need to be more patient

Two days is not a long time to wait for people to respond to a request like this, especially for a 1968 truck.

I merged the two threads together.

I doubt you contacted old Ford parts dealers...that sell NOS (New Old Stock) Genuine Ford Parts, because every one I'm aware of (dozens) will bend over backwrds to help.

You contacted the Ford reproduction parts sellers. Most have no parts catalogs, most of their phone order takers are minimum wage clucks, wouldn't know how to look parts up...even if they did have a catalog!
C5TZ-7507-B .. Clutch Equalizer Bar Pivot Bracket-Frame Side-Includes Pivot Ball / approx. 5 1/4" x 2 1/8" / Obsolete

Applications: 1968/78 F500/750 // 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1965/66 F350 / 1966 F250 4WD.

Sorry, no Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
---------------------------------------------------------
Is the bracket still there, but is missing just the pivot ball? There are two equalizer bar nylon bushings (C1AA-7543-A), one rides on this pivot, t'other on the engine side pivot.

1965/77 F100/350's use these same bushings, but the frame mounted bracket (there's more than one) is a different shape and length. They're also obsolete, but can be found NOS

With a bit of fabricating, I would think you could make one work.

C5TZ-7507-C .. Equalizer Bar Pivot Bracket-Includes Pivot Ball / 5 1/2" long / Obsolete

Applications: 1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD before serial number 830,001.

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has ONE = 606-787-5293.

ANTIQUE AUTO SUPPLY in Arlington TX has TWO = 817-275-2381.
----------------------------------------------------------------
C6TZ-7507-C .. Equalizer Bar Pivot Bracket-Includes Pivot Ball / 4.30" long / Obsolete

Applications: 1966 F100/250 2WD & F100 4WD from serial number 830,001 / 1967/72 F100/350.

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS has ONE.

JST AUTOMOTIVE in Lebanon TN has TWO = 615-443-3086.

The nylon bushings (C1AA-7543-A) are available from Ford.

@Krewat - thank you for your diligence, you're doing a great job! We put a little more detail into the title, that seemed helpful. Anyway, we've got some great info now.

@awhtx - thank you for that info!

@Bill - Wow, you really did bend over backward for us! We did those two parts names we mentioned from the "antique parts" and "old model" sites online, at least we got
some clue from them - but we appreciate your detailed info and will check it out.

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for about 22 bucks / This catalog contains 1,961 pages of illustrations, 4,941 pages of text.

The whole enchilada (clutch and related parts) is shown here: Illustration Section 75, Page 1.

@ Krewat - We found a great chart for truck id info/serial/warranty plate. We used this one for our 68,
1968 Ford VIN
but there is another that includes more years

63 - 71 ID System

Very helpful info. We thought it may be worth posting for general reference on the site.

mercurypickup.com: 1961/65 assembled in Canada Ford/Merc trucks have an entirely different 15 digit VIN than 11 digit US truck VIN's (examples: 4991014L-123456A vs F10CR123456).

1961/65: The codes on the Canadian only Warranty Plates are not the same as US trucks. So, all this info is worthless for decoding assembled in US trucks.

1966/68 Canadian assembled Ford/Merc trucks use the same 11 digit VIN, Warranty Plate and codes as US trucks. There are no Mercury trucks after 1968.

Most of the 1968 and thru today assembled in Canada Ford trucks are sold in the US of A. The US/Canadian tariffs were abolished in 1967, the only reason there were Mercury trucks in the first place.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any of these online sources for decoding this info, because most (like FTE's, for example) decode charts aren't worth 2 cents.

The info didn't come from Ford parts catalogs, it came from the AWFUL POS "Red Book" that has a gazillion errors and omissions.

This book was originally thought up and published by two members of the Fabulous 50's Ford Club...based on info they found in wrecking yards and at car/truck shows. It's pure crap!

Because of this, since 11/04/2006...I've decoded over 800 VIN's, Rating/Warranty Plates and Certification Labels for FTE members...using the apropos Ford parts catalogs.

Good job Bill! Thought it might save someone from burning the midnight oil. btw - we're going to be on the lookout for a copy of that manual Ken can get all greasy (he doesn't love computers!)
We may end up getting the CD anyway, and make him "politically correct"!
