So I've identified the source of my leaking oil (I think). It looks like the oil is pumping out of the rear passenger side mounting bolt. This is the bolt with the rubber cap right next to the oil pressure sending unit and the exhaust back-pressure sensor. I'm guessing blown HPOP res gasket, but is there an o-ring on the oil pressure sending unit?

Does anyone think this oil could be coming from something else nearby? I'm just hoping to get some confirmation that I'm on the right track before I start taking things apart.

Which leads to another question: can I just take the top off the HPOP res and install a new gasket or do I need to pull the whole thing, removing the fuel pump, etc.?

 

to pull the hpop, you just remove the fuel bowl.

No need to remove fuel pump.

2 bolts on the hpop, different lenghts, note the lenghts.
and then the drive bolt that is accessed though the front cover.

 

Is the place you think is leaking visible on this picture by chance?

 

Pete, yes, you can take the res cover off and replace the gasket without removing the pump.
