Cool 1997 7.3ltr diesel powerstroke, no start

!997 7.3ltr diesel powerstroke, direct injection. Has been running fine, cranked it, it started, ran for about 30 seconds and died. Will not start again. I connected scanner to computer, code po-603 only, checked the fuel pump pressure (50psi), changed the fuel filter, replaced the camshaft position sensor, no smoke from exhaust and will not start. Someone plase help!!!

I took the top off of the reservoir, no oil at all. Put the top back on with plug out, cranked twice for apprx. 15 seconds each and not oil.

Fill it up and try to start it. If it doesn't start, check level again to see if it dropped again. It could have drained from excessive cranking if you have cranked a lot. If you have no smoke your injectors aren't firing. Could be idm, possibly ipr related. Unplug the icp and try to start it (make sure the res. is full of oil). You could pull the idm and shake it to see if there is water in it also.

And yes, welcome aboard.

edit: man I type slow, two guys beat me this time.. Definitely answer Rick's question first.

So you are saying the plug on the top of the HPOP res is out & no oil is spraying out ?

Do as Darin suggested , fill it , put the plug back in & try starting it ...

I told you I was dumb!!! This is my first diesel and I'm learning as fast as I am capable (which is slow). I bought a manual, read it four times, talked to five diesel mechanics and I'm still dumb.

Thanks for everyone's help.
