78 F250 shock mounts? 10" lift

I scored some 10" lift leaf springs off an unfinished project truck and I'm in the middle of installing them on my 78 F250 crewcab 4x4.

I've done exteme suspension work on other trucks/jeeps and I'm familiar with all of the details and research needed to resolve driveline, brake hose and shock issues, but I'm figuring many of you have already done this mod and might be able to offer some quick solutions.... so here are my questions:

Stock F250 shock mounts are post/post on the front shocks and post/eye on the rear. But most tall, aftermarket shocks (Rancho Bilstien etc.) have "eye" monts at both ends.

*Is anyone running a 10" lift that uses the stock shock mounts?
*If so, what are the shock part numbers?
OR
*What sort of mounts are y'all fabricating for the front shocks using the eye/eye shocks?

(Truck is used as weekend grocery getter and tow vehicle for the jeep.)

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Will a '96 shock mount interchange?

Here is the upper mount on my '96, the shocks are eye/eye in the rear. I started a thread about boxing them to keep the crud from accumulating in them on the forum for trucks of those years...

I used stock type Sky Jacker 6" lift shocks in pairs with 10" of lift. I made the botom mounts and the top are stock but I cut a big chunk out of them and welded them back together.

Thanks guys. So Mark, if I understand you correctly, you lowered and raised the upper/lower mounts to accomodate a shorted shock. Have you noticed any loss in travel? ( shock getting hammered closed or over extended?)

For front shocks cut the top and weld on some tabs and for bottom I bought pin adapters. A 3/4" threaded rod to go in bottom hole with a welded on "U" bent tab with holes to mount a standard shock with eyes. If I was to do bottom ones again I'd just weld on tabs as it was before I had a welder.

Also you should put up a pic of those springs. Horseshoe springs like that would be stiff as hell and pretty much for pavement pounding. Hope you didn't pay too much as superduty pro comp 6.5" springs go for $300 and will be a much better ride.
Custom 10" springs would be expensive to make but doesn't mean they're any good.

Nice. That's what I needed to jump start my brain.
They are indeed horseshoe springs. I took out a 6" kit to put these in. They are Bertonni customs from central calif.
They were almost free. I picked up an unfinished project which included springs, crossover steering, a perfect body/frame, and a fresh 460 with ALL the trimmings for less than the price of a set of new tires.
I'll post pics upon completion.
Thanks for the upper mount idea. That gsets me headed in the right direction.

ballistic/sky/ruffstuff all make pretty nice upper and lower solutions to switch to eyes, and if you wanna diy you can check their pics and build something similar.

The shocks are Sky Jacker's 6" lift shocks. The bottom mounts I made and they raised them up some. The stock top mounts I cut as much out of them as I could, 2 1/2 or 3 inches and welded them back together so they are a lot shorter now. The shocks ride a little more than half way to the top of their travel but they have never bottomed out. It's a pretty long shock, there is plenty of travel.

try posting them for sale in the for sale forum or list them for sale in your signature. posting multiple off topic replies in someone else's thread is considered bad manners on the forums. I could see posting them once but bumping the thread to sell your stuff without offering any input on the thread topic is just spam.
