Figured as long as I was up I'd start the new one. Gotta be first sometime.

Summer isn't over until Sunday when the dock comes out. After that it can snow when I get my snow blower fixed.

Have fun with Mike's rear end Dave. Mike ... make sure he's doing the right rear end.

Good morning Cory and Steve and anyone else stopping by today!

Kids sort of let us sleep in. My middle child thought out was a goods idea to pea in a cup and leave out for his sister to discover. Trying to figure out his consequence for it. Might have him clean the bathroom.

Suppose we better get up and figure out what else they are doing. Have a great day!

His chore is going to be to clean the bathroom. He's not coming out until it's done either. This should be an interesting afternoon with him. He complains about the 5 minutes out should take him to pick up his room.

Looking like a great day out. Not to breezy.

Well, I went out shooting as my regular Saturday afternoon activity. Usually invite a bunch of friends to go with, but I decided I'd have a nice peaceful time at the range. Visited with an old timer who came out to try and figure this old rifle out, talked with him for about a half an hour. I think he was just happy to get out today as it was a nice day.

Good evening guys.

Well, rear end rebuild did NOT go as planned. Found out what some of the issues were though. The pinion shim was only half there, the rest is in small bits. Also ,the rear u joint is toast. Not sure which one came first, but it was either the pinion nut backed off, causing too much play and eating up the pinion shim. Thus, creating vibration that killed the u joint. Or , the u joint died, loosened the pinion nut by vibration, caused the pinion to eat the shim and killing the pinion. Either way, it is a mess.........................

The stock R&P are in OK condition, but the inner pinion bearing can be removed wit ha screwdriver and little effort. So, it was a mad scramble to find a new pinion shim, nearest on was in Kenyon, MN. Found some at a shop in Cambridge, went and got them. Installed shims on new pinion, press the inner bearing on, went to install the pinion and the outer bearing would not go on the pinion without a LOT of force. Turns out the new pinion is machined incorrectly, about .006 -.008 to large. WTF??????????????? Called Rock Auto and am sending it back, they are going to contact the manufacturer on Monday.

GRRRRRRRRR, I hate fixing ****. About time for a NEW (to me) truck.......................

Anywho, a big thanks to Dave and Tom for coming up today to help out.
