Question Clutch and Brake pedal issue

78' F150, 300 I6, 3+1 Trans(RUG?).

Okay, so my problem is that when I push in the clutch I can visible see my brake pedal move to the left. So I think I have some play in the pedal shafts or something. Also since my brake pedal is situated as it is, when I push in the clutch it will cause the brake lights to come on as the brake pedal moves.

So, do I need to take the assembly apart a replace the bushings? Do you think there could be another problem? Any advice on this procedure?

Thanks for all the help!

You need to look closely at the bracket while pushing the clutch pedal with your hand and determine what is causing the brake pedal to move.

I don't know if you could see the picture I tried to link, but the bracket that the pedals are attached to, now has a worn groove into the right side. The clutch pedal shaft also has a groove worn into it. It looks like I will have to replace the bracket and the clutch pedal.

I agree, while it ain't pretty, it's still fixable with bolt on parts. Time to go to a junkyard / pick-n-pull and get a bracket that's in better shape. Or get creative on the repair of the old one.

With a little work, you'll have her back on the road no problem.

Thanks for the info!

I just came in from looking at what I would have to fix/replace and I see what you mean AK. There is a classic auto yard near my city that I know for sure has the parts. All the other pick n' pull places don't have data banks or are super rude. If any one knows some good Dallas, TX salvage yards to go to, PLEASE, let me know!!! Thanks!
