Good Morning Everybody!

One last time I'm going to replace the power steering pump in my truck. I'm doing everything according to the rebuilder's advice this time. Hopefully, I'll have power steering today. .....and still have it next week. I think this is pump number nine, now. Four sets of hoses and four steering gear boxes. This is all bordering on the insane.

I got the steps on the back of the deck yesterday, too. I just have to paint it now. (redwood) I may change my mind when I get to Lowe's, but that's the plan right now.

Then I'm going to change the intake manifold on that '69 Camaro. I've been wanting to replace it and I almost did a few times, but today I'm gonna pull the trigger. I think this will get rid of the intermittent lean condition. (vacuum leak at gaskets)

If this doesn't get it, I'm going to offer a reward to anyone that can get my truck to steer easily.

Rich, I'm tagging those two sites as favorites since Ms Dent has very uncooperative power steering. Thanks man.

As for the Jeep job, I'm just saying screw it. After their dad died from cancer this spring, his brother bought the shop, even installed a time clock...for one employee(Jeep owner). I figure if his brother is being a d!ck about tracking Earl's time, he's prolly being one about Earl doing any work for himself or friends. I learned from it and won't make the mistake again.

Alan, please document what you do that works on the power steering. Did you get my email?

Maybe you should put the belt on it this time?

(Sorry....couldn't resist...)

Good morning boys and girls.

It's Friday...after sitting on my butt all week, I'll at least get to work for a few hours this afternoon. Humph.

Or maybe power steering fluid? This has to be driving him bonkers.

Howdy Misery. Boss scared the 5h1trolet out of me this morning. Called in to make sure what time I'm supposed to sign in for my field trip today. When I bid it, it was a new one that had just been called in. She said she THOUGHT it was going to be a 3:30 sign in. Fall break started yesterday, so of course she isn't there. Boss said "Who were you picking up?". "I don't know. Just an overnight trip to Liberty, Ill." He then says "You were supposed to sign in at 8:30."(Already 8:45 & almost ½ hour from the house to the job). So as I start running around like a chicken with my head cut off, the phone rings. Boss, "Okay, your pick up is at 3". "Okay, 2:30 sign in & 3:00 pick up?" "3:00 sign in & 3:30 pick up." Just a FEW hours difference there.

Chip I got a Borgeson steering shaft from the the Spg guy, for the 77 pretty good prices. And can overhaul what ever..... from what I understand.

Red head steering is all over FTE with nothing but good things about them. Especially with the older style ram assist steering you have, I hear they are the only folks have the parts to fix them??

Or are you going to do the 78/79 steering box swap someday?

Pat hello and lucky it was 3:00 pm huh?

Howdy Rich. Yeah good thing. Had me going till he called back. I was like "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot happened? She said she 'THOUGHT' it would be 3 when I bid it & nobody called me to tell me it changed?"

Redhead should have what ever you need parts wise and as far a "nolledge" on the swap lol, I only read on FTE that it is what all the old style steering high boy guys do.

I know you will need a 78/79 F250 steering box, and I know the jy that has one......

What a day!

I give up. Either I pass my truck off to someone and let them fix it, or I put a Chevy power steering system in it. (Sorry, but I have NEVER had an issue with Chevy steering)

I got the manifold swapped out on the Camaro too. It runs a lot more predictably now. Much more even. Of course, the fuel gauge doesn't work and the guy dropped it off with about a gallon of gas in it. Yup! ...ran out of gas on the test drive. I only had to walk about a mile, so it wasn't a big deal. It was frustrating though.
