I agree with the Battery Tenders, I have the little harnesses hard wired to my Super Duties, my E350, my boat, Sea Doo's, pretty much everything I have that is 12V. Batteries live virtually forever, even when they are not used for long periods of time.
Do you have an isolator switch and two chargers or are you just using one charger?
I agree Andy, I have never seen a 7.3 or 6.0 truck light like they do with the Odyssey/Sears Platinums. Those batteries are pretty amazing.
BTW, that is a nice work truck.
Thanks SoCal.
This is the third set of batteries in 4 1/2 years for me so I went with what I hope to be the best option. But they are pricey.
I also have a 200 amp alternator.
This is a work truck that gets used every day and I need it to run and run good.
But it also get's very well taken care of.
Proper wiring with a selector switch or isolator and one one battery will get drained and the second will start the vehicle. I run stuff with my vehicle off all the time. Idleing it for 20 hours at the Mint 400 race really isn't an option or cost effective.
I guess I could just turn my radio and safety lights off and risk someone getting killed or injured.
Sounds like you could use a portable gasoline powered generator.
The Battery Tender is supposed to be connected to the right passenger side battery. Left side connections have been tied to 6.0 crankshaft failures!
Not really.
I use the right side simply because I park my truck on the right side of my garage.
You about made me blow a gasket XB! If it were true, that would be the most bizarre electrical problem ever!
Hey we can start an internet rumor about left side battery harnessed Tenders backfeeding through the Crankshaft Position Sensor and creating electrolysis issues!
BTW my '03 sits on the right side of my garage, but it is always backed in, hence the left side. I just wired my '02 truck the same way, force of habit I guess, as the poor thing doesn't get garaged.
I put in two of the Sears Platinum's and love them. The truck starts so quick now.
They are 930 CCA with a 4year full replacement and 100 month prorated warranty.
Ditto for me. Just installed 2 Sear's Platinums a few months back. Truck starts great. Had problems last winter but no worries this year.

I honestly think they are the best batteries manufactured currently.
I think the Odyssey's can sometimes get a bad rap because they are confused with Optima's at times. I didn't have great luck with early Optima's, but I have heard they are much improved now.
I still prefer the way the glass mat core is designed in the Odyssey's/Platinums, as opposed to the spiral wound core of the Optima's, although the Optima's do look nice in a trunk or engine compartment of a clean vehicle.

That may be the case, but I leave the Tenders plugged in continuously when the vehicles are parked, and the Tenders bring the batteries up to full charge so slowly that the second one has to be very close.
I have a clean engine compartment in all of my trucks, I am a little fanatical according to all my friends, but that engine compartment is SANITARY! Especially for a work truck! Are you sure you work that thing??!!

I'll second that. On a single Battery Tender since 2005 and the batteries load test at 97% and 100%. I'm pretty sure that's within the accuracy of the load tester. Just hook up on whatever side is closer to a wall plug.
I keep all my vehicles in the garage. If they are in the garage, they're plugged in.

Thanks.
It gets worked everyday.
All it takes is a quick cleaning and the a spray down with Adams Polishes VRT dressing and it looks like that for months.
Takes all of 20min 3-4 times a year.
