If I'm not too late to this thread I might be able to help-----I'm in the auto glass biz, deal with this sort of thing for customers and my own van too.
If you can hear the lift motor running when switches are engaged there is nothing wrong with your electrical system, installing power mirrors and this condition aren't related even though they are coincidental.
Chances are the regulator mechanism has stopped working. Its a cable driven assembly that can't be repaired, needs to be replaced completely. The motor can be transferred from old to new saying you a bit of money that way.
Once the door panel is off watch the regulator as you call for lift or lower, see if there isn't a loose cable dangling or has come unwound from its pulley system. Viewing the regulator as installed somewhat hides the cable system so any sign of that cable isn't good.
I'm guessing you've checked operation from both the drivers and passenger sides? Sometimes one switch will fail completely or in just one direction. These are easily replaced--simply remove the mounting/junction block from the door panel and a new on pops right in.
HTH-----PM if necessary.
