Cool 1991 F-150 Pinion so f'ed need whole new rear

Yes, my happy day feeling the first ford i ever buy and the whole rear end strips in on itself and leaves me stranded on the side of the road....
tow bill 45
new rear axle 400
labor ???
upper and lower ***** 600
alignment 80
omgwtf is that noise...................... priceless!

I can't do ball joints but in theory I could have done the work but this shop is getting me wheels back which is important since I start s new job tomorrow

I feel your pain. If you can do the work yourself it will be a lot cheaper. Most tools to do it all are simple hand tools. You can get a rear end from a j/y or craigslist. The ball joints aren't that hard if 2wd, if it's 4wd it will be harder but still doable. I wish u the best but keep your head up. Things could always be worse. Also there may be members on here who live close and may be willing to lend a hand.

The first thing I did when I bought my truck was dump the front and rear diff and put new fluid in. Good thing, because my front diff was full of water. When I pulled the drain plug off and it started spewing I was like WTF!

an 8.8 from a wrecking yard or craigslist shouldnt be more then $150 and be an easy swap.

and is the Ring/Pinion really chewed up or did you just loose the spider gears?

Pinion went thru races even best price was 300just they had it in stock

theres also a grenaded ring gear axle shaft and my wrist that went with it
