Rear hub disassembly 55 f250

OK time to help the novice.
I'm tearing apart the brakes and hubs for cleaning and wondering the next step in tearing this apart.

Here is what I have.

So, how do I get the front cover off?
does it just pop off with a BFH on the notch? I would prefer not to tear it up.
Notice the two little notches at about 10 and 2 on the top picture.

Hi . To take the hub off, I see that all the axle nuts are already removed so just hit the center of the axle a sharp rap with a reasonably heavy hammer, being careful not to hit the studs. This should pop the axle out enough to remove the taper locks from the studs. Some times they pull off with pliers only and sometimes you have to tap a flat screwdriver into split to spread them a bit. Once the taper locks are off of the studs you can pull the axle out. Inside the hub there is a large nut, a lock washer, another large nut then the outer bearing. There are two different types of lock washers. One type has tabs that are bent back over the outer nut, one or two tabs, bend them away from the nut with a hammer and chisel, then remove the outer nut, the lock washer and inner nut, then the hub should pull off. If there are no tabs holding the outer nut then just remove the outer nut and there should be a washer with a bunch of holes in it. Remove the washer and inner nut then pull the hub off. It's a good idea to have a pale or something under the hub to catch the oil when you pop the axle and to catch the outer bearing when wiggling the hub off. Hope this helps. It's easier to do than explain it.

Thanks for the info, I will try it out as soon as I can.
I hadn't thought about the oil.
I will try to remember to take pictures of the process and post for future reference.

OK, I'm further along and thought I would post what I did to remove the hub.
So I banged it with a hammer and the taper locks loosened they didn't loosen all at once the last hammer strike popped it loose. They loosened one or two at a time, then used pliers to get them out.

The hub then looks like this:

This is how the nut, lock washer, nut and outer bearing look. I removed the hub and put them back on to show. The lock washer is keyed.

Here you see them individually and can see the key notch at 6 o'clock on the washer. Also, I didn't have to bend the tabs away, I guess someone did this before and when they reinstalled the lock washer they didn't bend the tabs back.

Next step is to remove the inner bearing and clean and paint everything.
