strange brake prob
2000 F250 in my sig- vibration when braking esp at higher speeds. So I thought no prob, its the slide pins been there done that time to do it again. Took it apart didn't see any issues but went ahead and re-lubed them. Checked everything out all was ok. Slight amount of runout in the pass rotor - I thought oh that's it. Didn't have time to do new pads/rotors so I put it back together and figured I'd get the parts this week and replace them on sat.
Got a call from a buddy to go help him pull a logging truck up a steep grade. So loaded gear up and headed out - pulled the truck up the grade. Had the brake vibe on the way over as expected. On the way home - NO VIBRATION AT ALL! Nice solid braking no fade.
Only thing is during the pull he missed a gear once and I got dragged backwards maybe a couple of feet w/ the brakes on.
Can't quite figure out how this "magically" fixed my brakes. Going to drive it for a few days before doing anything. Weird, just plain ole weird

Don't think I'd "prescribe" this as a recommended repair. I left a "pinch" mark on the seat. We figured btw us we were pulling 25k up a 8% grade - lots of pucker factor. In 4 low 5mph was about all we could do - luckily only about 3/4 mile was all. Told him next drag the #*/"'!+- things up the hill before loading them on the trailer! He let his guy w/ the loader go before he got up the hill.

You could have had pad material actually bonded to the surface of the rotor, and the hard work took that off.
We've had a lot of discussions a few years back about "warped rotors" on the Superdutys, and some of the most experienced engineer-types kept saying it was material deposited on the rotor, and not the rotor being warped.

I remember when we looked at it a week or so ago - rotors actually looked clean. No deep grooves, or marks. We put a dial ind on both and the runout was worse on one side vs the other. Don't remember the #'s but it wasn't much. This truck has been doing this intermittently for at least a couple of years. Usually lubing the slide pins is all it takes but this time something different is going on. You could feel a slight pulsation at low speeds - after this pull its all gone. I'd swear someone stole my truck r&r'd the rotors and pads then gave it back to me!
