So for the purpose of getting her back on the road sooner, thoughts on my idea of buying a tested 351 used and switching it out for a create motor later....what do yall think?

If you have a line on a "known" good motor and its' in our price range, I would get it. That way, you can drive it and still build the motor of your dreams!

If it's cheap, runs good, holds good oil pressure..sure why not? U can just drop it in and u already got headers for it. 351m run decent with headers, good exhaust, alum intake and. Small 4 barrel. IMO. Be sure it is a 351m, not 351 Windsor, Cleveland as they wont bolt up to your tranny.

Bro, from your description, it has an "older" bed "older" motor and "free" junk in the bed. Front corner is banged up, there are no plates so it hasn't been registered in awhile so, l am a little less than Jon and would not give more than $900-1000. I do not feel that is a low ball, just realistic for my area. Remember that every market is different and this guy might just want it gone from the yard. Oh yah, it has flat tires too. Like everything else on this post, what is it worth to you?

good hunting!

I understand but I did forget to mention that he has 2 good fenders and he was going to restore it himself but he has a 57 chevy he wants to do first. also had a 80s Z he is restoring for his grandson. so with 2 good fenders and nothing but surface rust now what do you think?? still 900-1000??

In our area, I would offer $700. That way you could make at least half your money back in parts with a little effort. I paid $500 for my parts truck in Asheboro and I still think I overpaid, but I was lucky enough to make about $400 back selling parts after I stripped everything off of it I needed. For a truck that looked like that and considering it isn't registered, in Concord, I wouldn't be offended if someone offered me $700. At least that gives you some negotiating room. Good luck with it.

Here is a picture of the parts truck I bought for $500 to give you some idea as to the comparison.

Not much, just some odds and ends. What do you need?

What's the interior look like, how much rust through the floorboards, frame look solid? If it's a solid truck I'd give up to 2000. It's a SWB 4x4, which is friggin cool.
